Portrait #5 - Pastel on Sueded Mat Board

I've decided this is the one I will submit to Karin's challenge. Although it really doesn't look like the gal in the photo, this one really appeals to me because it LOOKS like a painting. The first one in the posting "Portrait #1" more closely resembles the model, but it looks more like a PHOTO to me.

This one is about 10" x 12" on white sueded mat board (although the first two photos show it cream). I really like this one. I can't decide if I like this one full size or cropped as in the last photo.

I would really like your input as to which of the 5 different portraits (from the last several posts) you like the best and why? Thanks!

Wow, I'm so impressed with your portraits ....... Each one has its merits. This last one is so nice, it may be my favorite, but I really like the yupo. I like the very feminine mouth on the yupo piece. So, I guess my vote is both of them. Sorry, *smile, I just couldn't pick one. I have never worked with yupo but think it may be a fun challenge. Wonderful job Nancy. Wow, what a lot of work you accomplished.

MY ! MY ! you have been working hard
I like your last choice here also, it has a great feel to it. I prefer the full version of it, not the cropped one.
Great job.

Nancy, I was really happy to see all your different approaches. It was good to see how you evolved through the different media and I like the one you chose to post, also. I also have been trying different things with my photo. (Although I don't have so many ways at my disposal as you!) Anyway, I am learning so, so much from watching everyone deal with this. Even more than the other assignments. I never expected it!
Loved seeing your work. Thankyou for posting it all.

Nancy, I loved seeing the process of your painting. Each one was a lesson to learn from. I am learning to use pastel. Painting on Yupo paper for the first time was really a challenge.

Man, you really put some effort into all these options! I think you chose the correct one to post. Also, I loved seeing the progression photos.

Thanks for posting all the different version--it's amazing how different each one is; each has a completely different feel. This last one appeals to me most--the light on and around the face ... There's something in the expression in this version, an eagerness?

Hi Nancy,
Catharine here, the one you painted for Karin's challenge. I think you did a great job and obviously put a ton of effort into it. I'm afraid I didn't do you justice in the portrait of you. The skin tones and a few other things could really use some work. Anyway, thanks for doing such a great job!

Cheers,
Catharine
